Arthritis -Start the Healing Process

The first Western disease I was ever familiar with as a little boy was arthritis. My beloved paternal grandmother, Bertha Cooper, suffered from this pathology for many years. She had it very bad in her wrists and joints. I remember her asking me if I would go to the corner liquor store on the corner of 101st Street and Avalon Boulevard in Watts, California, and buy her some Ben Gay, a white pharmaceutical anti-inflammatory rubbing cream. She would rub Ben Gay on her wrists and joints and her tendons as well.

As a little boy, I didn’t understand disease. I didn’t know how my grandmother developed arthritis. All I knew is that she had it (and claimed it too).

However, when the Universe bestowed its Akashic Records of health knowledge upon me in the late 1990s, I finally understood why Grandma Sis (Bertha) developed and suffered from arthritis. You see, my grandmother was originally from the South, Mississippi to be exact. The ideal dinner was “soul food.” My grandmother was an excellent cook and I never tasted any food back in my deaf, dumb, and blind days and years that tasted better than my paternal grandmother’s food/cooking.

However, while this so-called food, soul food, tasted good, I now understand that taste is not the criterion or measuring stick for what is healthy or nutritional. It was Grandma’s good tasting soul food that did her in with arthritis and tendonitis. Yes, all that cornbread, collard and mustard greens, salt pork, candied yams, fried chicken, liver, catfish, pork chops, rock Cornish hen, neck bones, ham, white rice, etc. eventually did her (and the rest of my family members) in. Not to mention eating all that white, refined Webber’s and Wonder bread, flap jacks (pancakes), syrup and biscuits, bacon, sausages, jelly cake, jelly sandwiches, saltine crackers, Vienna sausages, potted meat, Spam, hog’s head cheese, liverwurst, etc. And what about all that hot cocoa, coffee (laced with white sugar and dairy cream), butter milk, pet milk, Kool-Aid, and soda pop that she drunk?

She didn’t smoke cigarettes like her five sons, but she would roll up her own smokes with Prince Albert brand tobacco and Zig Zag paper. My childhood friends thought my grandmother smoked marijuana. It was a little embarrassing until they found out what it was she was really smoking.

I mentioned all of the above to let you all know that my grandmother’s arthritis was caused by what she ate and drank on a daily basis through ignorance, tradition, and habit.

All that meat converted into uric acid in my grandmother’s joints and ligaments. The starches broke down into carbonic acid and also made its way into her joints. And so did the lactic acid from the brake down of the dairy products she consumed.

The smoking also created an over acid condition in my grandmother as well. She also had bouts with gout, which is nothing but arthritis in the ankle area.

You see, arthritis is a condition of inflammation of the joints. That’s all it is. The Latin word “Arth” means “joints,” and the English suffix, “it is” means “inflammation.” What is inflammation? A burning! What causes this burning or inflammation? ACID!!! Plain and simple!

Grandma Sis was lucky, eventually dying from degeneracy (that doctors call natural death). However, her sons (and daughter-in-laws, nephews, nieces, and grandchildren) were not so lucky, dying from the insidious cancer, including my father from lung cancer in 1994 and my mother from pancreatic cancer in 1999.

My family could not, would not, and to this very day, still will not believe that what they put into their mouths cause their pathologies and eventually kills them. It was easy to write me off when I was a Muslim and member of the Nation of Islam in the early 1990s, simply saying “that boy is mad at white folks and the world!” But today as a Naturist, what’s their excuse? Nothing but ignorance and traditional paralysis! Soul food is a tradition, Djehuty! Yes, a tradition that leads to an early grave!

One of the greatest contributors of arthritis is collard and mustard greens. Sorry Black folks, Negroes, and soul food lovers! But this is true! Greens are laced with “oxalic” acid and this oxalic acid is greatly produced when you cook the greens. This is true! And for you rat feces-laced chocolate lovers out there, your precious chocolate also contains oxalic acid.

Now, I don’t want you thinking soul food is the cause of arthritis, because a lot of white folks, Mexicans/Latinos, and Asians also suffer from arthritis. Like soul food, the Standard American Diet will also cause arthritis. Arthritis is an American disease!

If you understand arthritis, you should understand tendonitis and gout. They are acidic fluid build up problems in the joints that cause inflammation (pain).

Most modern day suffers of arthritis (and tendonitis and gout) are fighting the symptoms of these inflammatory diseases with pharmaceutical grade drugs. Even though God instructed Bible believers to heal themselves with herbs (Revelations 22:2, Ezekiel 47:12, and Pslams 104:14), in their strange obedience to God, they take the enemy’s pharmaceutical drugs that prolong the arthritis. Why and how? Because pharmaceutical grade drugs, though made from alkaloids, eventually break down into ACID (especially ascetic acid, which eats your red blood cells up) in the body, and acid produces inflammation, so how intelligent is it to take something to target the symptom which eventually lengthens and worsen the initial condition?

Mother Nature has provided healing for arthritis and other inflammatory diseases. To heal from arthritis, all one needs to consume is certain herbs. Herbs that are anti-inflammatory in nature are the best to heal from arthritis. These herbs include Meadowsweet, Peppermint, Wintergreen, Birch, White and Black Willow Bark and Balm of Gilead.

However, other certain herbs work synergistically with the herbs supra. Personally, no healing from arthritis can take place efficiently without the following herbs: Devil’s Claw, Boswellia (Frankincense), Uva Ursi, Mullein leaves, Saffron, Cayenne pepper, Feverfew, and Guaiac wood.

Devil’s Claw, Boswellia, Uva Ursi, and Mullein are the paramount arthritis herbs. They greatly counteract mucus, which is the byproduct of acid, which causes inflammation.

Organic sulfur, commonly called MSM Sulfur, is also great in healing arthritis. So is Noni juice!

You can make your own healing salve as well from a base butter or oil such as shea or cocoa butter, coconut, olive, or almond oil (or any other good oil) and add in a few drops (10-15 drops) of the following essential oils: Peppermint, Clove, Wintergreen, Eucalyptus, Birch, and/or Spearmint.

You can rub this salve directly on your joints or other problems area. It is very soothing and healing.

And of course, as an herbalist, I have formulated my own Joint Formula that consists of all the herbs mentioned above that is a powerful little formula that works wonders for me when my wrists start to hurt from excessive typing (typing up all that legal pleading).

I can’t forget about magnet therapy as well for arthritis. Magnets make a problem or injured area alkaline and also enhances circulation to the problem area so that healing can begin.

My good friend and brother, Mark Lomax, a musician, healed himself from serious bouts of gout, another acid condition. It’s been a few years now since he had gout. What did he do? First, he detoxified his body on our Full Body Detox. Then, he did a daily regimen of our Electric Greens Cell Food (pure alkalinity), Joints Formula and Black Cherry Juice Concentrate. You wouldn’t recognize this brother if you knew him 3 years ago. He also lost more than 70 lbs on these herbs. This man is a walking example of healing!

I should also mention the importance of pineapple enzymes called Bromelain for the healing of arthritis and other acid conditions. Bromelain or pineapple enzymes are anti-inflammatory in nature and effect and therefore provide healing for arthritis. They taste just like candy and are chewable and you can chew as much as you like, although 3-6 tablets after dinner ought to get the job done. You can find Bromelain at most good health food stores.

Soaking inflamed body parts in hot water and essential oils of Peppermint and Eucalyptus is also beneficial for arthritis.

But most importantly in fighting arthritis is modified diet. Cut out or cut down on meat and dairy products. These are two of the biggest culprits in causing arthritis. A vegetable cocktail consisting of celery, parsley, apple and/or carrot (for sweetness and base) 3-4 times weekly will greatly remove acid buildup in the joints. By all means, avoid all acidic beverages (beer, soda pop, milk, orange juice, wine, coffee, etc.).

Man, life is so wonderful when you know how to heal and prevent disease. The understanding of diseases is just as important. Sometimes I’m full of grief and sorrow from my knowledge and knowing that people suffer from a lack of knowledge (and insanity too). See Ecclesiastes 1:18 and Hosea 4:6

However, the children of the future, including my son, Asim, and daughter, Layla, and other Conscious Minds offspring – Nadya, Najee, Elijah, Asar, Sunshine and the newest edition from Melia and Obea, and the others (out here on the West Coast in Los Angeles) will all benefit from this profound knowledge of proper diet as well as from my suffering and grief, as well as their parents. I’m also quite sure that many children around the nation will also benefit from their parents’ reading and applying this health information and knowledge that is freely distributed.

As much as I loved soul food and my relative’s cooking back in my death (Negro) days, you couldn’t put a gun to my head and compel me to eat a piece of chicken or pork today, and I mean that! I love myself too much to harm my temple of God. My children are beautiful (and highly astute and precocious) because of what their parents ate before and while conceiving them. You can do it too!

Make the change people! Taste is not the criterion for what is healthy. Nutritional content is!

Peace and love, readership!

Arthritis – Yes It Can Be Cured

There are over 100 types of arthritis. It is a disease that limits everyday movements such as walking, standing or holding onto a key and trying to open a door. The effects of arthritis range from slight pain, stiffness, and joint swelling, to crippling discomfort.

Osteoarthritis is the most prevalent form of arthritis. An estimated 20.7 million Americans are affected by this disease.

According to Dr. Hulda Clark “…in osteoarthritis the joints have bacteria living in the deposits left there… More research is necessary to explain this. My suspicion is that there are toxins, like mercury, thallium, cadmium, lead, as well as solvents, distributed through the body, lowering immunity and allowing the tiny larvae to reside there. Once the pathway (routing) to these organs has been established, it continues to be used by other parasites as well. Soon a variety of parasites, their bacteria and viruses, and pollutants are all headed toward these organs”.

Osteoarthritis causes the breakdown of cartilage which is what protects the ends of bones from rubbing against each other. As the disease gets worse, along with the loss of cartilage bone spurs and abnormal bone hardening will develop, and create severe pain as there is no more cushioning for the bones. As a result, bones become more brittle and susceptible to fractures.

There are two types of osteoarthritis: primary and secondary. Primary OA is arthritis due to an unhealthy aging process. Secondary osteoarthritis is not so common, and is caused by, injury, previous congenital joint misalignment, trauma, infection, surgery, or prolonged use of medications.

Causes of Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis is can be brought on by general wear and tear on the body through the process of living, excess weight, and a lifetime of inadequate diet. Additional causes can be skeletal defects, genetic factors, and hormonal deficiencies (as evidenced by the many women who get osteoarthritis after menopause), toxins, and microbes. There are still other environmental and even dental factors that have also been found to bring on the disease.

Biomechanical changes, especially excessive tissue acidity, can also contribute to the development of osteoarthritis. This is why watching your pH for your acid, alkaline levels is so important, (you can get more information on pH, and acid and alkaline at www.drclarkuniversity.org click on books and products, then the University book store, then click on Alkalife). When joints lose their full range of motion due to stress, injury or lack of activity, the cartilage is decreased. As a result, motion is hindered and the and pain ensues. The body replaces the deterioration in the joints with calcium, which then forms hard, inflexible deposits, which cause joint stiffness.

There are some things you can do to avoid this disease or remove it from your life. One would be to follow Dr. Clark’s recommendations, some of which are below, and more information about her treatment and suggestions can be found in her book the Cure For All Diseases, found at www.drclarkuniversity.org [http://www.drclarkuniversity.org]

“Arthritic deposits contain a large amount of phosphates combined with calcium. This calcium came from some other bone, such as the base of your spine or the wrist. Here the bones are getting weaker due to this calcium loss. Calcium was taken out of your bones for the simple purpose of neutralizing the excess phosphate in your diet. Reduce phosphate consumption (meats, soda pop, grains) by half, eating fish, milk, vegetables and fruit instead. Drink three cups of milk a day. If you are allergic to milk, do several liver cleanses, switch brands of milk, use milk digestant, and use it in cooking and baking. Cheese and cottage cheese are not substitutes for milk (the calcium stayed in the whey). Dairy products must be boiled before consuming and should be no less than 2% butter fat. It takes bile to make calcium absorbable, yet bile with less than 2% butter fat does not trigger the gallbladder to empty it’s bile at mealtime”.

When joints are painful it is a simple matter to kill the bacteria with an electronic zapper. Treat yourself with a zapper daily until the pain is gone, (more info on the zapper at www.drclarkuniversity.org [http://www.drclarkuniversity.org] and in the Cure for All Diseases). Maybe it will stay away, but chances are the bacteria will have a steady source of toxins to become re-infected. Pick up the Cure for All Diseases to learn how not to re-infect yourself.

Natural Pain Relief – Supplements For Arthritis, Inflammation and Joint Conditions

Pain Relief Complex has the important natural pain relief ingredients of Boswellia and Safflower extracts to promote joint and muscle healing, particularly after exertion.

o Boswellia, from the frankincense family, is one of the oldest and most venerated herbal extracts in ayurvedic medicine used in India and Asia. It has been shown to provide natural pain relief through potent anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic and analgesic activity with virtually no side effects. Laboratory studies have shown that natural phytoacids from the Boswellia plant can deactivate triggers for inflammation and pain. Hormonal mechanisms may stimulate the growth of cartilage, increase blood flow to joints and encourage the repair of blood vessels damaged by inflammation. The natural pain relief properties of Boswellia make it an ideal supplement for those experience chronic joint pain as well as for the “weekend warrior” type of person who is likely to experience overexertion of both muscles and joints.

o Safflower has been used in Asia for its health benefits for many years but is just now being recognized in the western world. Safflower is high in Vitamin E which has anti-inflammatory properties by its ability to scavenge free radicals and prevent tissue oxidation. This property makes it a healing vitamin. Safflower oil is also high in oleic and Linoleic acids which are thought to provide joint lubrication and aid in the formation of healthy cartilage tissue and other cells such as muscle and skin cells. Safflower extract is able to lower the production and increase the clearance of lactic acid. Lactic acid is a primary cause of post workout pain and lowering its formation and presence can easily provide natural pain relief.

Joint Health Complex is a supplement designed to support the cartilage and proper functioning of the joints with Glucosamine, Cat’s Claw and trace elements.

o Glucosamine is well known for its ability to protect cartilage in the joints and increase formation of new cartilage. It has been well studied and is so effective at limiting joint damage and actually reversing cartilage loss that even the traditional medical system has accepted its use. Glucosamine HCl is the most concentrated form of the natural substance and contains no sodium, making it ideal for the older patient who may often need to limit sodium intake.

o Cat’s Claw, also known as Una de Gato has been used in South America for centuries to treat and prevent a variety of health conditions including arthritis, inflammatory conditions, bowel disorders and in some cases, cancer and HIV. The addition of Cat’s Claw extract dramatically increases the natural pain relief properties of Glucosamine It is anti-inflammatory in nature, having been shown to have a number of naturally occurring plant sterols which closely resemble anti-inflammatory steroids. Clinical studies have shown that it may reduce swelling by up to 50 percent.

o Trace Elements including Boron, Zinc, Copper and Manganese are all necessary for maintenance and production of cartilage and the synovial fluid that provides joint lubrication and cushioning. They are also important building blocks to anti-inflammatory agents and enzymes necessary to maintain joint health.

These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Troubleshooting Your Mobility Scooter

Mobility scooters help many millions of Americans each year who have trouble walking due to age, arthritis, or muscular diseases. Many grocery and retail stores offer mobility scooters for their customers to use, making it easy to get around and eliminating the need of bringing your with you to the store. As with almost anything mechanical there may come a time that your electric mobility scooter will require some troubleshooting. Make sure you consult the user manual for your mobility scooter, but there are several common things that are easy to check and many times will easily solve the problem you are having.

One of the most dreaded things that can happen, especially after you have seen the full benefit derived from your mobility scooter, is when it just won’t start because it appears to be dead. The first thing you should do in these instances is to remove the key and then reinsert the key. If that still does not fix your problem then you should ensure that you have fully charged the battery. If you used it heavily for several days without charging it, it is possible that the unit has no charge. If this does not resolve the problem, then you should reset the breaker switch. Most scooters have a main breaker circuit, which is similar, in concept anyway, to the black breakers commonly found homes. Find the breaker and either turn it off and on again or push the reset button, depending on the model of mobility scooter you have. The next step in the trouble shooting process is to check all of the connections of the battery, and to follow the wires from the battery and check that the wiring harness connections are all tight. If this still does not fix your problem then you will probably want to take the device to a certified service repair center.

If when using your mobility scooter, the battery gauge indicates a full or adequate charge, but the throttle control does not do anything then your mobility scooter may be in free wheel mode. Most electric mobility scooters have something similar to neutral in a car called free wheel mode. When a mobility scooter is in free wheel mode, the brakes and transmission is disengaged which makes it easy to push or pull the mobility scooter. Many times the free wheel mode switch is located in the back of the mobility scooter, so if you are pushing the throttle control and nothing is happening than ensure that it is not in free wheel mode.

If your mobility scooter’s main circuit breaker is constantly tripping, or if the battery gauge dips down low and the motor surges or hesitates when the throttle is pushed it could be a sign of an electrical problem. First though ensure that the mobility scooter is fully charged and in the case of a tripping main circuit breaker it may just be a case of infrequent charging, so try to get on a regular charging schedule. If charging the scooter does not fix the problem then it is probably a good idea to take it to a certified service repair center. There are several tests that can be ran on the electrical systems with a battery load tester and voltmeters, both available from most auto parts stores, but these exceed the scope of this document.

If your mobility scooter stops working don’t panic. Consult the user manual that came with your mobility scooter and follow these simple troubleshooting steps. If that still doesn’t resolve your problem it may be necessary to contact a certified service repair center and have a certified technician take a look your mobility scooter.

The Benefits Of Abhyanga: The Ayurvedic Massage

What exactly is Abhyanga? Abhyanga is a ritualistic full-body warm oil massage, which despite being blissfully comforting and luxuriously relaxing heals your body and mind. It is nevertheless, a daily massage therapy. What does it really do and how does it exactly serve to improve the functioning of the body? Our body accumulates stress and tension.

This is partly a result of the tight schedule that we live by and the high degree of stress that we take in our professional life that largely affects our personal circle and primarily our health and welfare. Imagine yourself and the kind of strain that you put on your body especially the neck and the eye sitting in the office, in front of your computer from 9 in the morning to 5 in the evening. Now imagine the tension that is likely to be accumulated on your muscles when you have the same routine for an entire week. Abhyanga helps the body to get rid of the accumulated muscular stress and tension. The following are the advantages of Abhyanga.

The ayurvedic massage enhances blood circulation. Blood circulation is extremely necessary as far as reduction of muscular stress and nervous complications is concerned. It not only contributes to muscle toning but also to the toning of the entire body. Apart from that it calms the nerves and enhances psychological welfare and mental alertness. It is also a very effective tool as far as arthritis is concerned. It helps relieve the pain in the joints by enhancing lubrication. Another important function of the ayurvedic massage is to get rid of the waste from our body. The process of elimination of waste from the body is an important function that the ayurvedic massage aids. It has primarily to do with the regulated and resolute supply of oxygen throughout the body, which the massage ensures.

Traditionally performed in the morning, the ayurvedic massage serves to release the toxin in the body, accumulated the previous night. Added to that, it provides aid to the skin in performing all the tasks resolutely. For example, the massage ensures the proper absorption of the nourishment by the tissues. Unlike spa, the traditional Abhyanga provides a very herbal and natural treatment as the products it uses are natural derivates. For example, it uses chemical free organic sesame oil. Because of the antioxidants present in the natural oil, the skin remains very healthy. It can also be aided by the use of herbalized massage oils.

So, the ayurvedic approach to touch therapy is unique not only because of the absence of chemicals or the minimal use of chemicals, but also because of the fact that, it can be done on a daily basis. Also, the cost of investment on the products is comparatively less. Added to that is the fact that it is very effective. So if you are planning to plunge into the field of specific health care service, traditional ayurvedic massage service is worth the investment. What you need in the first place to start up a venture as such is massage and spa furniture.

The Major Cause of Arthritis and How to Relieve It

The problems associated with arthritis can largely be avoided if people take more notice of prevention rather than seeking a cure. There is no relief if the joints affected are inflamed but what causes that condition is usually a health issue and diet is a big part of it. Women are often major sufferers because they provide the meals for their families. These usually include the very substances they need to avoid.

A healthy joint is one that moves freely with no restrictions. The bones glide over one another because of the articular cartilage that buffers the bony surface. This is lubricated by synovial fluid which is rather thick and is absorbed by the cartilage when the joint is at rest. When flexed into movement the fluid is squeezed out of it to again do its job.

The simplest way of explaining this is to think of a hinge that is oiled. If it rusts up one must replace the oil to free it again. But if it is corroded there is no way of fixing it.

Joints are hinges and when damaged, either by a break or a simple knock, they leak the synovial fluid out and it is replaced by substances that pass through the blood barrier. These include refined foods, such as ground flour, rice, or cornflour. Sugar also plays a part.

The beat way to preserve the joints is to protect them when playing sports and to seek immediate treatment for injuries. After that it is a case of good diet and constant awareness of what brings on arthritis and the food we need to avoid in order to prevent it. As with any medical condition there are always others causes and effects so there can be no guarantees.

Living With Chronic Pain: How I Got My Life Back

During one of the most stressful years of my life, while I was battling Type II Diabetes, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.

Before I had visited the Rheumatologist, I thought it was just joint ailments and a touch of arthritis, since I was entering my 40’s and thought it was to be expected. However, when the pain of violent electric shocks began to affect every part of my body, I sought the help of a professional. It was becoming a debilitating condition that was affecting my personal and professional life.

For several years after I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, I had been prescribed the following:

  1. Gabapentin
  2. Cmybalta
  3. Piroxicam
  4. Lyrica
  5. Tramadol
  6. Baclofen
  7. Steroid shots in the neck and shoulder area

And at one point, I was on 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 at the same time.

The pain was still present and the side affects of the medications made my brain so foggy, I could hardly concentrate at work, affecting my livelihood and income.

I was on all of these pills and still in excruciating pain. Why? What was the point? For a while, I had my daughter to help with the chores and help me dress, but after my daughter moved out, I hired a nurse to help me dress and bathe and a professional cleaning service to help with the chores.

Shortly after the last steroid shot, I made a bold decision to stop ALL of the medications. Nothing was working and my quality of life was horrible. My Rheumatologist was not happy to say the least.

I slowly weened myself off of the medicines and sought the help of a Holistic doctor I had heard so much about. Here is where I learned how to use spices to heal my body and how to live a chemical-free life on an organic diet.

I thought I was eating healthy, but I was not. I thought that having instant oatmeal for breakfast was good for me, and a lean cuisine or healthy choice frozen entrée for lunch was healthy for the body. Dinner was usually a Zaxby’s salad drenched in fattening dressings. I was also using saccharin sweeteners in my oatmeal, coffee and non-sugar cereals. She cringed when I told her that last one. Ha!

I learned a lot from her about chemicals in processed and frozen foods, and began only eating foods that I made from scratch with fresh ingredients, using the spice blends that were healing for high sugars and inflammation. Some of the spices are:

  • Turmeric
  • Ginger
  • Cinnamon
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Ground Clove
  • Sage
  • Rosemary
  • Curry powder
  • Oregano

I also no longer eat red meat and limit starches altogether, unless it is ‘cheat day’ only one item allowed – then I can’t wait to have a sandwich with bread. Yummm! J

She also instructed me to cook everything in a wok using organic coconut oil. Most of my lunches are either beans or a delicious salad with Annies organic dressing. For dinner, I am usually cooking up Asian cuisines with boneless and skinless chicken, shrimp, or scallops, veggie blends, Thai jasmine rice or Asian rice noodles, and yummy sauces.

I also learned foods that make you ‘feel’ full, such as beans, any kind, black, kidney, etc. and cook those with the spice blend as well. I find that sautéed kale (with coconut oil and spice blend) also fills me up!

I also found comfort in CBD oil, which helped with some of the chronic pain, and allowed me to restart my exercise routine, which I sorely missed for over four years. Having a home gym makes it easy to jump on anytime and my Fitbit motivates me by logging my steps and workouts, and cheering me on when I complete personal goals.

In addition, I have found comfort in essential oil blends that decrease my anxiety, appetite and relieve pain. I have a whole shelf of authentic oils to treat almost everything!

Today, I am still prescription drug-free and have lost over 30 lbs. I still have pain, but it is much less severe and does not cripple me in my personal and professional life. And although managing all of these methods is a full-time job in itself, it’s worth it for me.

My hope is that this article will help inspire someone to explore other options when treating chronic disorders. You just never know what may help.

Use it Or Lose It – Is Arthritis Making You Feel 90 Before Your Time?

Madonna turned 50 and is still strutting her stuff, thinking nothing of doing the splits during her routine. Who would guess she reached the half-century mark?

This observation supports the argument that if you use it, you won’t necessarily lose it. Unfortunately most of us don’t have the flexible joints that Madonna has. As we age, most of us feel old before our time because of the aches and pains that often develop into arthritis, which can be painful and debilitating.

Arthritis is the single biggest cause of disability caused by the body mistakenly attacking healthy joints and tissues. In the United States alone, it is estimated that between 30 and 60 million people suffer from arthritis.

Osteoarthritis vs rheumatoid arthritis-what’s the difference?

The most prevalent forms of arthritis are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Of the two, osteoarthritis is by far the most common form of arthritis, usually effecting people over the age of 50, with some 10 per cent of those over 60 being affected.

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease, thought to be the result of wear and tear on the cartilage of affected joints over many years. Repeated injuries and/or surgeries are also considered to be contributing factors to this form of arthritis.

When you have osteoarthritis you face the loss of the protective surface of cartilage over the ends of your bones. This can lead to the growth of tiny bone ‘spurs’, which grate together on movement, causing pain and leading to swelling of the joint, most easily seen in the joints at the ends of the fingers and in the knees. As well as these joints, the hips, base of the thumbs and the spine are commonly affected.

Osteoarthritis of the fingers is more common in women, and is particularly likely to run in families. Obesity is strongly linked to osteoarthritis of the knee and to a lesser extent of the hip.

Rheumatoid arthritis is warm to the touch

Rheumatoid arthritis, a painful, inflammatory type of arthritis affecting almost 400,000 people in the UK, occurs when the body’s immune system attacks itself.

Rheumatoid arthritis is a common type of chronic arthritis where there is much swelling and pain in both small and large joints. The hands, especially the large knuckle joints, are most commonly affected.

The joint swelling, which is often red and warm to the touch, is due to considerable inflammation of the synovium, a thin layer of tissue surrounding many joints, responsible for the production of the lubricating synovial fluid. In rheumatoid arthritis much of the swelling is due to an increase in this fluid.

Possible triggers are infections, food allergies and genetic factors. About 1 per cent of the population world-wide suffer from rheumatoid arthritis, with women being three times more likely than men to suffer. The most common age of onset is in the forties, with it being more likely to start in the winter months.

Ways to control arthritis pain

Although there is no cure for osteoarthritis, there are ways to control or lessen the pain and reduce the degree of disability.

Most people will be prescribed a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen, which will temporarily mask the pain of arthritis, without addressing the root cause of it.

Recent studies have shown encouraging evidence that glucosamine and chondroitin supplements can provide long-term help with treating osteoarthritis, the most prevalent type of wear-and-tear arthritis. However, more research must be completed to confirm the findings.

There are other things you can do to minimize the progression and improve symptoms of osteoarthritis. Simple things like weight control, exercise and modifications to your diet can help in the treatment of arthritic problems.

Perhaps Madonna should be our poster child for the arthritis society.

This novel focuses on the struggle of Jarrett Clay Carter II as a lowly and poorly paid lawyer at the Office of the Public Defender (OPD). He dreams of making it big someday but the break, so to speak, are so not forthcoming. He represents clients who are accused of a criminal offense but are not capable of paying for legal services.

He reluctantly takes on the case of Tequila Watson, a man accused of a random street killing. Unknown to Clay Carter at that time, the case would catapult him to the biggest break he could ever imagine. A pharmaceutical conspiracy was underway and Tequila Watson is just one of the human guinea pigs for the drug “Tarvan.” The drug supposedly aids drug addicts towards recovery but it has a major flaw, in 10% of its patients, the drug leads to violent random killings. To keep everything under wraps, the manufacturer of the drug, employs Clay Carter, through the help of Max Pace. Clay Carter, resigned as counsel for Tequila Watson, walked out of his job at Public Defender’s Office, took some of his trusted colleagues at OPD and set up his own law firm. Clay Carter now became the counsel for the mysterious pharmaceutical company. They identified the victims of the Tarvan-induced “random killings” and paid the heirs of the victim off with large settlements.

Clay Carter soon took on the case of another drug, “Dyloft”, a potent anti-inflammatory drug used by people with acute arthritis. However, as effective it is in curbing the pain, it causes bladder tumors. This case boosted him to launch a new career in Mass Tort Law. He started to rake in millions of dollars in fees. His meteoric rise to fame and fortune earned him the title of the newest King of Tort.

The Rise To and Fall From Fame And The Process Server

Surprise is an element Clay Carter relied on heavily on his filing of the Dyloft case. Simultaneous with his filing in the courts, a process server had tendered a copy of the complaint to the defendant company, Ackerman Labs. In this kind of cases wherein the time element is part of the strategy, a competent, effective and trustworthy process server is the best person to have in the team.

As every comet with its meteoric rise to stardom and its spectacular atmospheric display, it is fleeting. And at some point it will eventually drop somewhere. Clay Carter in the short span of a few months had acquired a luxurious house in prominent part of the town, a villa somewhere in the French Isles, a sporty black Porsche Carrera, a private Gulfstream jet, a yacht, hundred of millions in fees.

In a series of wrong decisions, Clay Carter had subjected himself to a massive malpractice lawsuit. He settled the thousands of mass tort cases of Dyloft he had with Ackerman Labs in swiftly at a small amount per client. Although he received millions of dollars on fees, the individual clients received a paltry sum. Since all these were done in record time, he was not able to evaluate thoroughly the effects of the drug to each and every client.

With all of Clay Carter’s resources, there is a layer of protective bubble around him. With a jet and a yacht on hand, he is considered a flight risk. Taking these in mind, the process server who served Clay Carter with his career-ending malpractice lawsuit was able to penetrate the security and was able to time his visit to give it to him personally.

It is kind of ironic if not fitting that in this novel, the unrecognized constant is a process server who had done his job well.
